Islamabad, 25 October 2024: The Wafaqi Mohtasib, Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi has said that transparent and efficient service delivery by the public sector organizations is indispensable for promoting good governance. He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the certificate distribution ceremony of the 41st Mid-Career Management Course (MCMC) at the National Institute of Management (NIM) here this afternoon.
Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi said that Pakistan is a large country with multiple challenges in diverse fields impacting on the well-being of our people. As such, it is imperative for the government officials and functionaries to redouble their efforts to become true public servants, being accessible and responsive to their needs.
The Wafaqi Mohtasib further observed that it is only through the prompt and just response to the concerns of the general public that the government officials can earn their trust and confidence in discharge of their responsibilities. He said that with the new set of skills learnt at the National Institute of Management, the participants would be able to perform their respective duties with greater confidence. He also briefed the participants on the mandate, scope of work and the achievements of the Office of Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman) in providing free and expeditious dispensation of administrative justice to the general public against the complaints of maladministration on the part of federal agencies and its employees.
Earlier, the Director General of the National Institute of Management in his welcome address touched upon the salient features of the course and its relevance for the participants in their professional careers ahead. The 10-week course was attended by participants belonging to various occupational groups and autonomous bodies including Police Service, Foreign Service, Inland Revenue Service, National Accountability Bureau and others.
