Chicago, USA: Consul General of Pakistan to Chicago Tariq Karim received a delegation of the US businessmen at the Consulate General, today. The delegation, which also included importers of mineral products, especially pink salt from Pakistan, briefed the Consul General on their business engagements with Pakistan and expressed the desire to further enhance the volume of their trade and investment.
The Consul General informed the delegation of the trade & economic potential of Pakistan and its investor friendly policies that offered tremendous opportunities to foreign businessmen and investors. He said that Pakistan’s geo-strategic location, its market size and presence of a large pool of trained professionals and workers makes it an ideal business destination. He also shared with the delegation success stories of US enterprises in Pakistan, significant rise in Pakistan-US trade volume and investment opportunities in various sectors.
Briefing the delegation on mineral products, the Consul General highlighted Pakistan’s large proven reserves of the Himalayan pink salt and its high demand and variety of uses across the world. He mentioned that, in order to safeguard this indigenous mineral product and curb its unauthorized use, Pakistan had registered the product as Geographical Indications (GI) which has helped in promoting international trade of the product. The Consul General assured the delegation of the Consulate’s full assistance in expanding bilateral trade and economic ties.
