KARACHI- The Business community has welcomed Prime Minister Imran Khan’s announcement regarding Rs 162 billion Package for Karachi.
United Business Group patron-in-chief S.M Muneer, Chairman Iftikhar Ali Malik, spokesman Gulzar Feroz, sectary general Zubair Tufail, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Khalid Tawab and Abdul Sami Khan said that the package is need of the hour to improve infrastructure of the city which is in very bad shape.
S M Muneer said Karachi was facing acute shortage of water and public transport, its roads are damaged, sewerage system collapsed and heaps of garbage are seen everywhere.
He said Karachi is an economic hub of the country where the dilapidated infrastructure badly affects its residents and the business community.
UBG spokesman Gulzar Feroz said that Karachi is contributing more than half of exports and revenue of the country but the city still facing basic
UBG sectary general Zubair Tufail proposed that a committee comprising of representatives of FPCCI be formed to monitor development work in the city.
He said now it is time for both federal and provincial governments to make strong strategies for lasting improvement in infrastructures in the city.
