According to international media reports, President Trump, while speaking to journalists during his visit to China, acknowledged Pakistan’s contribution as a key mediator in efforts aimed at reducing tensions and promoting dialogue between Iran and the United States.
Trump described Pakistan as a “great country” and specifically appreciated the leadership of Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for their constructive role in supporting ceasefire and peace efforts.
The US president stated that Pakistan had played an “excellent role” in diplomatic engagement aimed at easing regional tensions and encouraging peaceful negotiations.
Political analysts noted that President Trump’s latest remarks carry additional significance because they come shortly after criticism from US Senator Lindsey Graham, who had questioned Pakistan’s neutrality in the Iran ceasefire process.
Although Trump did not directly mention Senator Lindsey Graham during his latest statement, observers believe his strong praise for Pakistan’s mediation efforts clearly reflected confidence in Islamabad’s diplomatic role and dismissed concerns raised by critics.
Earlier, the Prime Minister of Qatar had also publicly acknowledged Pakistan’s role in ceasefire diplomacy, stating that Pakistan was effectively handling mediation efforts and that there was no immediate need for another intermediary country.
Iranian leadership has likewise repeatedly appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement and efforts to promote peace and stability in the Middle East. Iranian delegations have visited Pakistan in recent months, while regular high-level telephonic contacts between both countries have continued.
Diplomatic experts say Pakistan’s active engagement in regional peace efforts has strengthened its international standing and highlighted its growing importance as a responsible diplomatic player in complex geopolitical situations.
Observers believe the recognition from global leaders, including President Trump, reflects increasing international acknowledgment of Pakistan’s strategic diplomacy and peace-building initiatives in the region.
