KENYA : A Kenyan environmental activist has set a Guinness World Record for hugging a tree continuously for 72 hours. 22-year-old Trofina Muthoni has broken the world record for the longest marathon by hugging a tree. The previous record was held by Ghanaian Frederick Baukei with a time of 50 hours, 2 minutes and 28 seconds. Previously, Trofina had set a record by hugging a tree for 48 hours in February 2025. Speaking to Guinness World Records, he said that the first attempt was a simple way to reintroduce humanity to the Earth. He added that the second attempt was a commitment. He realized that the world needed more than symbolic efforts.
