Shikarpur, October 15, 2025 : The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) organized the third seminar in its ongoing series of awareness sessions on the management of Aflatoxin and Maximum Residue Level (MRL) in the Rice Product at district Shikarpur, the hub of basmati rice production in Sindh.
The initiative forms a part of TDAP’s continued efforts to promote compliance with international food safety and quality standards among stakeholders in Sindh’s major rice-producing regions—Larkana, Kashmore, and Shikarpur districts. The aim of these seminars was to educate the concerned stakeholders like growers, millers, and exporters on adopting best practices to enhance product quality and reduce the risk of export rejections due to contamination or non-compliance.

During the session, experts from relevant departments shared technical insights on controlling aflatoxin contamination through improved drying, storage, and handling practices, and ensuring adherence to MRL standards. Participants were also briefed on the importance of traceability, certification, and quality assurance systems to maintain Pakistan’s reputation and credibility in international rice import markets.
Speaking to the occasion, the Director General TDAP reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment in supporting Pakistan’s rice export sector through capacity-building initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and close collaboration with provincial and federal institutions. He emphasized that sustained efforts in food safety management are vital to enhancing Pakistan’s competitiveness in global agricultural trade.
