UPPER CHITRAL: Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Booni kicked beautification work at Booni district headquarters of district upper Chitral. TMA Booni inaugurated a butcher’s (slaughter) house and street light along with keeping dustbins to keep the Bonni market clean, which not only helps the people here. Convenience but also the beauty of this newly created district will promote tourism. As soon as Tehsil Municipal Officer Misbahuddin took charge of TMO, he put Dustbin in Booni Bazaar so that people throw garbage in it and Booni city remains clean. He opened a new slaughter house in Booni and also installed street lights in the bazaar. So that citizens and shopkeepers do not face difficulties.
On this occasion, the Chairman of Tehsil Mastuj, Sardar Hakeem was chief guest, who cut the ribbon and inaugurated these projects. These projects will not only provide convenience to the shopkeepers and people here, but it will also promote the tourism of this faraway district.
Booni Bazar Traders Union President Muhammad Shafi and General Secretary Muhammad Zakir Zahmi also appreciated the work of TMA and demanded the provincial government to provide funds to newly born district like Upper Chitral as per their requirement. They said that before this, the butchers used to slaughter animals in the streets, for which stray dogs were gather and sometimes they would attack people, so the environment here was very dirty. Now that the new slaughter house for butchers has opened on the riverside outside Booni Bazaar, it is hoped that this will keep the environment of Booni Bazaar clean.
They said that due to the lack of street lights in Booni Bazar, there was a threat of theft and shopkeepers as well as the public were also facing a lot of difficulties while walking on the road. The President of the Traders Union Muhammad Shafi and the General Secretary Muhammad Zakir Zahmi thanked the Provincial Secretary of Local Government Department Syed Zaheerul Islam Abbasi for transferring Misbahuddin as TMO Booni here who is a very honest and hard working tehsil municipal officer. They demanded from the provincial government and especially the chief minister KP that no provincial minister has visited this district so far, so at least the provincial ministers should come here and listen problems of the people and try to solve them. That fund should be provided to all institutions, departments in this district so that the construction and development works can continue.
They said that TMA Booni is working according to its schedule, but unless they are provided sufficient funds by the provincial government, it will be very difficult for them to continue these works.
The people here are also happy on these development works in this new district. Former manager Noor Mohammad, social and political activist Abdul Taif and businessman Abdul Razzaq said that this kind of work in this district will facilitate the people on the one hand. On the other hand, tourism here will also be boosted as Upper Chitral district is the center of tourism. Thousands of tourists come here to see the polo tournaments and festivals that are celebrateting at Shandur, Barughand Qaqalshit. This newly created district will be promoted by improving tourism here they added.
The women of Upper Chitral district also expressed their happiness over these developmental works. Rashida Bibi who is the district president of the women wing of the ruling party says that we appreciate the work of TMA and it was a long-awaited demand of the people Booni for a proper slaughterhouse and street light which installed in Booni. People’s problems will be eased and clean meat will also be available to them.
Although Tehsil Municipal Administration in Upper Chitral carries out development works according to its own limited resources, but unless they are provided required funds from the Provincial Government, these works will also remain incomplete. Social and Political circle of this remote and backward district demanded from the Provincial and Federal Governments to pay attention to the construction and development of this new district and provide sufficient and ample amount of funds so that this newly born district can also stand in the ranks of other developed districts.
