I want to address the problem for the lack of parking spaces available in Karachi through it. People are suffering the consequences in the shape of traffic jams and roadblocks. It is taking people much longer to get to their destinations because most cars or motorbikes are parked on roads which is causing a hindrance in people’s lives. For example, on Tariq Road, where it used to take me 10 minutes to pass through now it takes 40 minutes.
There is no check and balance on the number of vehicles on road with relevance to the number of parking spaces available in the city. With inadequate public transportation services available in the city people have resorted to buying their own private transport to commute. This has led to an increased number of vehicles in the city, with nowhere to park, people are parking their vehicles on roadsides which leaves narrow passage for other vehicles to pass through resulting in heavy traffic jams. Ultimately causing a struggle in getting to desired destinations like work, educational institutes and hospitals. These jams are not only a waste of time but also of fuel energy and tiring for those driving.
