Karachi : SZABIST University hosted an Awareness Seminar on “Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace.” in the presence of distinguished members of the anti-harassment committees from various Universities, NGOs, members of civil societies, faculty, staff, students and senior management of SZABIST University, including Madam Shahnaz Wazir Ali, President, SZABIST University.
Mrs. Anis Haroon, Member of the National Commission for Human Rights Pakistan spoke about the equal rights of women, advocating for uniformity in the legal age of adulthood for marriage across all provinces. Ms. Fauzia Viqar, the Federal Ombudsperson for Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace, delivered the Keynote Address. Ms. Viqar elaborated on the dignity of women, emphasizing the impact of harassment in the workplace under the gender-based discriminatory act. She insisted upon providing training and awareness programs for faculty and staff to understand their legal obligations.
The seminar served as a platform for fruitful discussions, shedding light on the significance of establishing safe and respectful work environments for all individuals. Participants engaged in dialogue, exchanging best practices, and exploring strategies to effectively address and prevent workplace harassment, emphasizing the dignity of women.
