Karachi ( Sports Reporter ) The first semi-final of the PCB Naya Nazimabad Inter-School Cricket Tournament organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board and in collaboration with Naya Nazimabad has been decided. Five Star School Tariq Road defeated Standard School Buffer Zone by nine runs in a thrilling match.
At the KCCA Stadium North Nazimabad, the Five Star School team batted first and were bowled out for just 128 runs. Haider Ali scored 35 and Muhammad Zaid Ahmed scored 25 runs. Faisal Qurban took four wickets. Ash Malik and Shah Mir Khan took two wickets each.
In reply, the Five Star bowlers bowled brilliantly and restricted Standard School to 120 runs and sent all the players to the pavilion. Captain Soman Kabir scored 40 runs but he failed to lead his team to victory. Mohammad Murtaza Taqi took four wickets while Ahmed Abdullah Butt took three wickets.
Murtaza Taqi was declared the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance. The special guest, President New Nazimabad Gymkhana Syed Muhammad Talha, distributed prizes among the players.
According to PCB Coordinator Sindh Rahat Ali Shah, the second semi-final of the tournament will be played on Monday, December 29 between Beacon House School and Oasis School. While the grand day and night final will be held on January 1 at the Naya Nazim Cricket Stadium.
