Speaking at an awareness seminar in connection with World TB (Tuberculosis) Day at Dow University of Health Sciences, experts said that more than six lac people are affected by TB every year in Pakistan and 45 percent of these affected people are Lack of diagnosis and treatment. In connection with World TB Day, an awareness walk and seminar was organized at Ojha Institute of Chest Diseases under the direction of Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohammad Saeed Quraishy, in which Dow University of Health Sciences professors, doctors, Para. Medical and nursing staff, CDC Sindh,


representatives of organizations related to social services participated. The event was commenced with a walk and later concluded with short seminar. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Iftekhar Ahmed (Director OICD and Dean Faculty of Medicine DUHS) said that more than six lacs cases are reported in Pakistan every year out of them 45% remain misdiagnosed and untreated. Dr. Mirza Saifullah Baig Associate Professor also gave awareness about TB causes, diagnosis and treatment availabilities. The principal of the DIMC, Prof. Zeba Haq, emphasized that everyone present at today’s event should take responsibilities to educate each other about TB to achieve goal to end TB. Dr. Saleem Hassan Kazmi presented with a shield of appreciation, and all guests presented with a gift of AJRAK. In the end, Deputy Director OICD, Dr. Ghulam Murtaza Soho gave vote of thanks to all organizers and participants.
