Sindh: The Sindh government has now sounded a high-pitched call for Governor Kamran Tessori to relinquish his position with – right away. This call was very loudly echoed by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah during the Mon press briefing. The ministers criticized Governor Tessori, claiming he lacked proper measures to handle issues compounded by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P).
In the same breath, Minister Memon accused MQM-P of harbouring regressive political strategies of division has been built on hatred and blame games. He stated that their politics is now virtually non-existent at local councils and that the party at the grassroots level no longer boasts the power that it used to. Further, Memon criticized MQM-P Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui for the use of abusive language on former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto of Pakistan.
In addition, Memon accused MQM-P of engaging in nepotism, pointing towards the party’s apparent influence in monopolizing appointments in local government departments. He also reacted to MQM-P demanding the abolition of the quota system as something, which he considered unfit for it.
In a similar vein, KPK Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah claimed MQM-P was sticking to the old tactics or what he deemed as ‘dirty politics’. In the previous public speeches, Shah pointedly recalled some events, including the Baldia factory fire, accusing some MQM-P members of performing unlawful acts.
The two ministers confirmed their respect to the protocol on political decency to the Ministry, which they claimed they were provoked by MQM-P. They also insisted on the fact that they did not want to match the degree that they described as rude and escalation-like tactics on the part of the other party.
In conclusion, the present scenario where the Sindh government demanded the resignation of Governor Kamran Tessori has thus marked a new era in Sindh Politics. It only shows that political tensions between the PPP ruling party of Sindh and MQM-P worsened, elucidating the dynamics of the political complexity of governance and politics in Sindh.
