KARACHI, February 26, 2026 – In a significant step towards promoting environmental sustainability, the Sindh Forest Department, Government of Sindh, and Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing urban forestry and increasing green cover in the city.
The MoU, signed today on February 26, 2026 by Registrar Cdre. (r) Syed Sarfraz Ali SI (M) and Division Forest Officer, Abdul Aziz Baloch, outlines a collaborative effort where the Sindh Forest Department will provide technical assistance and a variety of plant saplings for the initiative. In return, Sir Syed University will take charge of watering and maintaining the urban forestry tree plantation established under this agreement.
A key component of the partnership is the allocation of land for the urban forestry project. SSUET has committed to providing space on its new campus, located in the Education City, which spans an impressive 200 acres. This area will serve as a vital green space, contributing to the city’s ecological balance and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
The initiative is expected to not only improve the urban landscape but also serve as an educational platform for students and the community, raising awareness about the importance of tree plantation and environmental conservation.
