Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has spoken out about the rumors of a rift with fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, saying there’s no tension between them. The speculation started after a video from the first Test against Bangladesh went viral. In the clip, Masood is seen placing his hand on Afridi’s shoulder, but Afridi quickly removed it, sparking fan concerns.
Masood explained that the gesture was accidental. “Shaheen wasn’t upset with me; he was just in pain from an injury he got while batting against Nahid Rana,” Masood said. He reassured fans that there’s no conflict between the two players.
During the post-match press conference, Masood also addressed Pakistan’s recent 2-0 series loss to Bangladesh. He apologized to fans, acknowledging that the team needs to improve. “We need to focus on our fitness, both mental and physical, and respect our opponents,” he said. He praised Bangladesh’s disciplined play and stressed the importance of having experienced players in Test cricket.
