According to the ISPR, the operations were conducted on May 7 and 8 after security agencies received intelligence reports regarding the presence of militants in the two areas.
In the first operation carried out in Tank, security forces engaged militants in a heavy exchange of fire, killing four terrorists.
Another intelligence-based operation was conducted in Dera Ismail Khan, where one militant was killed during a gun battle with security personnel.
The military’s media wing stated that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, who were allegedly involved in multiple terrorist activities in the region.
ISPR added that clearance and search operations were continuing in the surrounding areas due to concerns about the possible presence of additional militants.
The statement further said that operations against terrorism would continue with full force under the National Action Plan and the Azm-e-Istehkam vision approved by the federal apex committee.
Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies remain committed to eliminating militancy and foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country, the ISPR added.
