LAHORE – Accountability court on Monday declared Salman Shehbaz as a proclaimed offender in the money laundering case.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) pleaded the accused to be declared absconder due to his consistent absence from court hearings.
Accountability Court Judge Chaudhry Ameer Khan upheld NAB’s request, he had been summoned multiple times for questioning but failed to appear in court for the scheduled proceedings resulted in the decision.
On September 30, the corruption watchdog body informed the accountability court that the property of Salman Shehbaz had been seized over his no-show despite repeated summons in a money laundering case.
A NAB prosecutor informed the court that the bureau had seized the property owned by the accused. The prosecutor informed that the accused was served subpoenas to turn up for investigation but he didn’t and instead fled the country.
He was asked to leave the NAB office at 4:30pm.
Sources said that Salman Shehbaz will answer to the questions in consultation with his counsels. They said that Slaman Shehbaz had brought his initial documents with regard to the NAB hearing.
He had prepared summaries of different companies being run under him. Shehbaz Sharif is in the NAB custody in the Ashiana Iqbal Housing scandal.
