We celebrate the 101st birth anniversary of Shaheed Hakim Muhammad Said. This is an important day not only for Hamdard (Waqf) Pakistan but for every patriot who wishes a bright future for the country. If one word that could summarize Hakim Said, it would be “Patriotic” Sadia Rashid said. He was a Pakistani from the heart. He dedicated his life to providing education and health facilities to all Pakistanis.
Hakim Said promoted the spirit of patriotism – Pakistaniat — and dedicated the earnings of his institution to the health, education, and welfare of the nation. He was a big supporter of women’s empowerment as he gave equal representation to girls along with boys in his Naunehal Assembly because he wanted to create a new, modern, and Islamic society in the country.
He also devoted much of his life to learning, research, and writing, authoring and compiling about 200 books on health, medicine, education, religion, history, children, etc., and writing papers for international journals and forums.
Hakim Said transformed a desert into an oasis by establishing one of its kind cities of knowledge and wisdom. He envisioned that Madinat Al-Hikmah will be the first step towards our past glory i.e. the golden era of Islam.
Madinat Al-Hikmah was built to derive and deduce light from all sources of human culture, civilization, and world history and create institutions similar to Bait-Al-Hikmah, Baghdad, and the like. We expect that Madinat-Al-Hikmah is given the status of an educational nucleus, where not only scholars from the world of Islam but experts from the entire world should follow their academic pursuits. Although this city is located on the soil of Pakistan, our endeavor should be to make it an international city of knowledge and wisdom.
We must take pride in his accomplishments and the services he gave to Pakistan. We should pledge that we will continue to follow his ideals and principles to play our role in the betterment of our society.
