Karachi (Staff Reporter): A Rs 500,000 financial assistance cheque has been provided to the family of Shanti, a newlywed woman who was brutally murdered after being subjected to sexual violence in Lyari, in a tragic incident that has drawn widespread condemnation.
Sindh Assembly member and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Minority Affairs, Dr. Sham Sundar K. Advani, visited the victim’s family to offer condolences and express solidarity. During his visit, he met the deceased’s parents, brother and sister-in-law and presented the aid cheque on behalf of the Sindh Minority Affairs Department. Director Minority Affairs Sindh Aslam Khoso and Arjan Das Lohana were also present on the occasion.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Advani described the incident as a heinous and condemnable crime. He said that while the financial assistance could not bring Shanti back, it would help ease some of the family’s financial difficulties during this period of grief. He assured that the Pakistan Peoples Party leadership, the Chief Minister of Sindh and the Minority Affairs Department stand firmly with the bereaved family.
Dr. Advani further pledged that those responsible for the crime would be brought to justice and that Shanti would receive justice through due legal process. He reiterated the Sindh government’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of minorities and emphasized that ensuring their welfare remains a top priority. He added that all possible measures would be taken to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
