KARACHI: Revival of Sports in Shah Faisal Town — Grand Reopening of Bilal Friends Cricket Ground
In Ward 2 of Gulzar Colony, development works were acknowledged as elected Councillor Zahid Gul presented a special gift to Town Chairman Gohar Khattak.
Under the leadership of Shah Faisal Town Chairman Gohar Khattak, the historic Bilal Friends Cricket Ground located in Bilal Colony Sector D has been reopened for youth after complete rehabilitation. Previously unfit for play due to heaps of garbage and stagnant sewage water, the ground has now been restored and equipped with modern facilities and artificial lighting.

The cleaning, leveling, and renovation work was carried out under the special supervision of Chairman Gohar Khattak, after which the ground once again became a hub for sporting activities. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was performed by former captain of Bilal Friends Cricket Club, Kareem Bakhsh.
On the occasion, UC Chairman Salman Khan and Ward 2 Councillor Zahid Gul were also present, while a large number of local youth and members of the sports community attended and expressed their joy.
During the ceremony, Councillor Zahid Gul appreciated the ongoing development projects in Ward 2 Gulzar Colony and presented a special gift to Town Chairman Gohar Khattak and UC Chairman Salman Khan, paying tribute to their leadership. He stated that the Town Chairman’s efforts for the area’s development and promotion of sports are commendable.

It is worth mentioning that Bilal Friends Cricket Ground has historically served as a nursery for many talented players, and its restoration has once again revived sporting activities in the area. Residents described the initiative as an important step toward a brighter future for the youth.
A friendly exhibition match was also played on the occasion, in which Bilal Friends Cricket Club defeated Shah Faisal Town’s Director Eleven by one run after an exciting contest
