Karachi: Zubair Baweja Chairman Pakistan Hotels Association, Board of Directors Pakistan Hotels Developers Ltd., Managing Director Regent Plaza Hotel, and Former Vice President FPCCI has welcomed the SOPs issued by the Govt. of Pakistan for holy the month of Ramadan and assures all possible cooperation but at the same time, appealed to Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan to help the restaurant industry due to financial crunch and requested to allow both takeaway & delivery and dining with SOPs.
Zubair Baweja, Chairman Pakistan Hotels Association, said that the measures are taken by the Govt. of Pakistan to save the masses from the Coronavirus pandemic were commendable, and in this regard, the restaurant industry has also offered its fullest cooperation in spite of all financial difficulties.
“According to the Govt’s of Pakistan SOPs, The NCOC placed a ban on outdoor dining, both delivery & takeaway in restaurants. The federal minister said indoor dining was already banned in the country; however, now, outdoor dining is also being prohibited till Eid — and only takeaways will be permitted.”
Zubair Baweja asked, how could a restaurant survive? There could be more death not because of Corona but unemployment. The restaurants are the biggest employment providers and are now forced to shut down their business. He added the hefty amounts of Tax contributors in the National Exchequer are now on the verge of Bankrupt.
Zubair Baweja said that as delivery and takeaways have been open for 24 hours and 12 hours in all parts of the world including Pakistan, we request that we also be allowed to deliver and takeaways from 4 pm to 5 am.
“We appeal to Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan to allow takeaway & delivery and dining so that we can work smoothly”, Zubair Baweja requested.
He further said that we have never opposed the steps taken by the Govt. of Pakistan but have always supported and will continue to cooperate.
