Pakistan: On August 24, a delegation from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) met with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman to seek renewed cooperation. The two parties are considering resolving their differences and exploring joint efforts. Discussions focused on forming committees to facilitate parliamentary collaboration, with PTI emphasizing the potential to challenge the government more effectively if they work together.
JUI-F representatives responded that decisions would follow internal party discussions. Both PTI and JUI-F spokespersons confirmed the ongoing talks and committee formation for parliamentary affairs. PTI’s Raoof Hasan and JUI-F’s Aslam Ghauri highlighted the importance of continued dialogue, particularly on legislative matters.
Earlier, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi criticized the current government’s tactics and underscored the need to recognize Imran Khan’s role for political stability. He also condemned the crackdown on PTI related to the May 9 riots and called for dialogue to address Balochistan issues.
