The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has introduced a new rule for its 11th edition, allowing team captains to submit two separate playing XIs to the match referee before the start of a game.

Under the updated regulation, each team sheet must include 11 players along with four substitute players. If a captain opts to submit two different combinations, they will be required to finalize one playing XI after the toss, depending on match conditions and strategy.
The move is aimed at giving teams greater tactical flexibility, particularly in response to pitch conditions, weather factors, and the outcome of the toss—an important element in T20 cricket.
However, once the final playing XI is submitted after the toss, no further changes will be allowed for the remainder of the match.
The new rule is expected to add an extra strategic layer to the tournament, enabling captains and team management to better adapt their line-ups to specific match scenarios.
Cricket analysts believe the decision could significantly impact game planning and increase competitiveness in PSL 11, as teams gain more control over their final selections at a crucial moment before play begins.
