Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari praised the exemplary role of Pakistan’s armed forces in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty during a meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir. The meeting, held at the Aiwan-e-Sadar, highlighted the army’s ongoing operations against terrorism and its operational readiness against conventional threats.
General Munir congratulated President Zardari on his appointment as President of Pakistan and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. He also briefed the President on the armed forces’ contributions to development initiatives, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
President Zardari commended the army’s efforts in promoting social uplift in areas affected by terrorism and extremism, emphasizing the Pakistan Army’s unwavering commitment to national progress. He reiterated Pakistan’s resolve against terrorism and affirmed the nation’s readiness to respond with full force using all elements of national power.
Expressing concern over baseless allegations leveled by a specific political party against the armed forces and its leadership, President Zardari vowed to deal with such disruptive elements firmly. He paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country, stating that their blood symbolizes the resilience and strength of the Pakistani nation.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of solidarity and determination to uphold the values of peace, security, and progress in Pakistan.
