Karachi – Rotary International District 3271, in collaboration with Religion for Peace, and the America Pakistan Business Development Forum, successfully organized the Climate Change Conference and Awards 2023. The special guest of the ceremony was the President of the nation, Dr. Arif Alvi.
During the event, Rotary International’s Director, Muhammad Faiz Kidwai, along with District Governor Muhammad Hanif Khan, Deputy Governor, and President AMPAK, Shaikh Imtiaz Hussain, Assistant Governor Rizwan Jaffar, District Secretary Asif Mukati, and other dignitaries discussed the critical need for constructing new dams and launching nationwide tree plantation campaigns to address environmental challenges.
The conference also witnessed the recognition of Shaikh Imtiaz Hussain, President of AMPAK Business Development Forum, for his significant role in promoting afforestation in Pakistan and raising awareness about the importance of tree plantation among the public. President AMPAK Shaikh Imtiaz Hussain acknowledged the collaboration between Pakistan and the United States, fostering investment, bilateral trade, and technology transfer.
President Dr. Arif Alvi, addressing the conference, highlighted the global need to control environmental pollution and its severe impacts. He emphasized the importance of immediate actions to mitigate the damages caused by climate change worldwide. Dr. Arif Alvi stressed the significance of water conservation, referring to Prophet Muhammad’s teachings, and underscored the importance of preserving water resources.Dr. Arif Alvi urged the audience to actively participate in afforestation to provide a green and healthy environment for future generations. He commended Rotary International for its social services and its efforts in making Pakistan polio-free.
District Governor Muhammad Hanif Khan shared insights into Rotary International’s social and developmental projects. He praised the organization’s efforts in providing relief during crises, such as distributing safety kits and surgical beds in hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also highlighted Rotary International’s current mission to make Pakistan polio-free.
President AMPAK Shaikh Imtiaz Hussain emphasized the current environmental challenges faced by Pakistan and the need for immediate action. He encouraged youth and individuals from various platforms to actively participate in tree plantation campaigns. Shaikh Imtiaz Hussain underscored the importance of constructing small and large dams to control floods and ensure water availability for the country’s development.
