Karachi: The members of the United Business Group (UBG) on the Executive Committee of FPCCI 2021 have expressed their dissatisfaction and displeasure with the dwindling performance and activities of FPCCI particularly in the last five months perform.
While reviewing the activities the members said that FPCCI which is the apex body of the private sector representing all trade bodies across Pakistan miserably failed to perform and organizing even its regular and annual actives. They regretted that the FPCCI Export Awards and Achievement Awards ceremonies are pending for the last two years causing a great deal of frustration and disappointment amongst the exporters and the business community who struggled hard in the period of pandemic and their efforts needed to be recognized and encouraged.
The members also strongly criticized the culture of nepotism and favouritism prevailing in FPCCI particularly in appointments of coordinators of specialized standing committees on different subjects. The unlawful present regime in FPCCI has also ruined the Business councils with different countries and FPCCI affiliation with regional and confederation chambers, members added. They regretted that FPCCI lost the opportunity to have office bearer’s seats in ICCIA, CACCI, and SBC, etc.
It was also discussed that FPCCI did not call any meeting or conduct any seminar/conference on pre-budget sessions, due to which consolidated views and proposals of the private sector could not come forth for presentation to the government for consideration.
It was also observed by the members that the unprofessional approach of the illegitimate President of FPCCI has done nothing for the SME sector and women entrepreneurs who are on the priority list of the government in economic activities.
The members also reviewed the financial health of FPCCI and regretted that FPCCI financial resources were confined to rental income only while a drastic deficiency was being observed in other financial resources.
