Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and former Sindh Assembly Speaker, Agha Siraj Durrani, passed away in Karachi on Wednesday after battling a prolonged illness. He was 74.
According to hospital sources, Durrani had been receiving treatment at Dr. Ziauddin Hospital for the past three weeks.
President Asif Ali Zardari expressed profound grief over his demise, paying homage to Durrani’s lifelong dedication to democracy and public service in Sindh. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also extended his condolences, describing Durrani as a committed, honest, and loyal political figure who spent his life serving the people of the province.

Born on October 5, 1953, in Koshkarpur, Durrani completed his early education at St. Patrick’s High School, Karachi, and later obtained a law degree (LLB) from Sindh Muslim Government Law College — paving the way for a distinguished career in law and politics.
