KARACHI: Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Altaf Shakoor has stressed the need of political reconciliation in the country which is necessary to support our saggy economy.
He said political instability in the country has stopped investment and pushes the value of the US dollar up. He said dollarization of economy is harmful for the developing countries like Pakistan and political turmoil; political thinking of judiciary and overall global slowdown has weakened the Pakistani rupee almost doubling our foreign debts. He said the external debt is a death trap and the country cannot break this trap unless there is inner political peace.
He said that all political parties should think about the nation and country. He said it is not a serious approach to make petty political scoring at the cost of voters. He said the poor people in Pakistan are braving the most costly Ramadan in the history of their country. He said now food inflation is the highest the real wages lowest in the history of Pakistan. He said all political parties are responsible for this sad situation.
Altaf Shakoor asking the political parties to sit together and shun their ego in the best interest of the country. He said the courts should avoid taking political decisions and return all politically motivated cases to the parliament which is the proper forum to settle political controversies. He said alleged political activism of some of our judges is the bad omen for the nation and country. He said the judiciary should not become a player or umpire of political games.
Altaf Shakoor asked the political leadership to focus on two most pressing problems of Pakistan: very high food inflation and deadly debt trap. He said food inflation in an agricultural country is a shame, while the debt trap would suck all our resources and further increase poverty and hunger. He said politicking is useless when people are hungry and deprived.
