Islamabad: A three-member bench of Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has ordered complete inquiry into the incidents of maltreatment meted out by Punjab Police officials to Khawar Maneka’s family.
The apex court said that action will be taken against police officials found involved in the maltreatment. The bench said that such incidents cannot be tolerated. The apex court also directed Inspector General Punjab police to investigate and submit report within a week about political interference in the matter. The Chief Justice in his remarks said police will be freed from political influence through reforms.
