PIEDMONT – Today, Sunday, June 9th: Extending Cleanup Activities.
World Oceans Day, a global initiative to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our oceans and marine life. In line with this, Plastic Free volunteers are mobilizing across Piedmont to tackle plastic pollution and promote environmental conservation.
Initiatives Across Piedmont– World Oceans Day
Cleaning Up Green Areas
Volunteers are focusing their efforts in Turin and Pianezza. Cleaning up green areas to remove plastic waste and preserve natural habitats.
Extending Cleanup Activities
Cleanup activities will extend to Alessandria and Lake Viverone (Biella), with additional cleanup efforts planned in Turin.
Call for Citizen Involvement
Luca De Gaetano, founder and president of Plastic Free Onlus, emphasizes the importance of citizen involvement in these efforts. “I invite citizens to come forward, giving their small but big contribution, participating in the cleanups and registering for free on our website.”
Partnerships for Environmental Protection
Plastic Free has forged partnerships with several municipalities in Piedmont to promote volunteer projects for environmental protection.
Collaborative Efforts:
Memoranda of understanding have been signed in areas including Cuneo, Turin, and Alessandria, facilitating collaborative efforts. To combat plastic pollution and preserve natural habitats.

World Oceans Day, observed on June 8th, serves as a reminder of our responsibility to protect and preserve our oceans for future generations. Additionally, it provides an opportunity to reflect on the benefits that the oceans provide us and the importance of sustainable interaction with marine ecosystems.
