Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has issued a clarification regarding rumors of changes to its iconic logo and aircraft design, as reported by national media.
A PIA spokesperson confirmed that there are no plans to alter the airline’s logo or aircraft design. The national flag carrier’s logo remains unchanged, with all decisions about branding or design requiring approval from the board and relevant ministries.
According to a report by ARY News on Wednesday, the spokesperson further confirmed that there have been no changes to the tail flag or overall aircraft design.
In other news, Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat has been appointed as the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PIA, with the Prime Minister’s approval. The official notification has been issued, and Hayat’s appointment follows recommendations from the PIA Board of Directors. He takes over from Khurram Mushtaq, who had previously held the additional charge of acting CEO.
In a bid to strengthen its operational fleet, PIA recently added a long-grounded ATR aircraft to its operations. The airline’s CEO highlighted that this addition will enhance services to destinations like Gilgit, Sukkur, Turbat, and Gwadar.
PIA also plans to expand its fleet following the removal of restrictions by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency. The fleet upgrade will see the addition of more Airbus A320s, increasing their number to 12, along with a second ATR aircraft. This is part of PIA’s ambitious operating plan for 2025.
