Former President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf’s paid more attention to exports than other rulers due to which the country’s exports increased significantly but the current Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan is only talking about developing the country’s economy. There is no efficiency, the cost of production in the country has increased considerably, labor problems are also very high, and Pakistan is also facing stiff competition at the global level, previous governments used to give rebates to exporters which were stopped by the present government. Given that the leather industry is on the verge of collapse, if the current government’s package of Rs 12 billion is handed over to the business community, Karachi will become an ideal city.
Moin Nawaz, a well-known leather businessman, and chief executive officer of Nawaz & Co., expressed these views. He said that his family has been involved in the leather industry for the last 150 years and it’s my family business. My grandfather had a factory in Kanpur, India. After the partition of India, my father established a leather industry in Pakistan. And for the last 25 years, I have been associated with this sector. Our company has been exporting leather to Italy, France, Germany, USA, and Canada. He said that Pervez Musharraf’s tenure is ideal for every sector including the leather industry has developed immensely. Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif was also good for the businessman community. He said that Pakistan’s leather quality is number one. There is no doubt that we should be proud that Pakistan’s leather quality is better than other countries if the obstacles in this field are removed. If the cost of utility bills is reduced along with the reduction in tax rates, then this miserable sector like other sectors can stand on its own feet again and we can compete with the world. Our Commercial they are sitting outside and taking salaries only.
If they play their role, then the record in the country’s exports it can be added that today the situation is that Bangladesh, the country to be formed after Pakistan, has more currency value than Pakistan. Replying to a question, he said that as long as SM Muneer was in the Trade Development Authority Pakistan then until now, the performance of this institution has been exemplary but now there is no heir of this institution. The institution which people like SM Muneer go to will develop itself, Corruption has left Pakistan behind.
