When academia, philanthropists, corporate leaders and professionals focused to harness the promise and potential of Pakistan through such segments as fostering vocational trades of dignity, education, healthcare and environment through the spirit of self-help, trust, confidence building and sharing empowerment, it was a humble little unique national event “I Owe Pakistan” organized by the Public Affairs Section, Institute of Business Management (IoBM) for students of Corporate Communication and Event Management at the Conference venue of Shahjehan S. Karim Centre of Excellence of the Institute.
Invited to “I Owe Pakistan” were Mr. Mohammad Iqbal, Chairman, Kashif Iqbal Thalassaemia Centre and President Thalassaemia Federation of Pakistan, Ms. Hira Zainab, Founder First hand NGO, Ms. Dania Madni representing the Robin Hood Army, Ms. Paaras Sattar, GM, SareAam Times, Mr. Asfandyar Kohati, Creative Strategist, Actcept, Ms. Amna Zuberi, Principal, Education Bay School, Dr. Shahid Amjad, HoD Environment and Energy Management, IoBM, Dr. Rustum Leghari, Medical Doctor, IoBM who has also passionately served the sick and impoverished in the rural areas, Ms. Fakiha Rasheed, Procurement Specialist, MSAN, World Bank funded project earlier avidly serving the less-privileged in the public sector and Mr. Kazim Usman, Faculty, IoBM.
Echoing over the IoBM horizon have been such inspiring words of IoBM’s Late Founder President Shahjehan S. Karim: “I have served Pakistan all my life and will make all efforts and sacrifice to see the Institute a reservoir of national strength and power.” Events at IoBM are organized amid the inspiring guidance of IoBM’s Mr. Talib S. Karim, President and Ms. Sabina Mohsin, Executive Director, Administration, Admissions and Finance. It is noteworthy that the segment “Springs of Hope” of “I Owe Pakistan” highlighted how Ms. Sabina Mohsin along with the IoBM Society of Welfare and Trust (SWAT) initiated a quiet and humble Sadqa-e-Jariya in the form of water pumps for all-time pure and clean water for Tharparkar, Sindh.
Mr. Parvez Jamil, HoD and Faculty Advisor, Public Affairs, while conceptualizing the theme of “I Owe Pakistan”, revealed a handful of less-heard media professionals who quietly worked behind the scenes to produce leading media brands and celebrities of Pakistan. He also referred to a few silent, selfless and sacrificing models of peaceful co-existence with conflicting views and interests endeavoring for self-help and self-reliance rather than aid addiction and crippling independence. The very essence of sharing empowerment is, he added, when men and women work together towards life and livelihood.
Mr. Mohammad Iqbal explained how Kashif Iqbal Thalassemia Centre is providing free treatment to the agonized helpless. Ms. Hira Zainab emphasized how men and women in an organization share responsibilities for a collective growth. Ms. Dania Madni showed a video of how her company works to feed the poor. Ms. Paaras Sattar said that “God helps those who help themselves”. Mr. Asfandyar Kohati spoke on how empathy, education and employment facilitate the cause of the transgender. Dr. Shahid Amjad said that we should treat trees and plants as pets and must keep indoor plants at homes and offices. Ms. Amna Zuberi told how her school encourages students to learn important life’s lessons through creativity. Dr. Rustum Leghari presented a backgrounder to medical facilities for the less-privileged. Ms. Fakiha Rasheed said how her vision created a positive impact at Civil Hospital for the ailing masses. Mr. Kazim Usman presented a wonderful food for thought by reciting N. M. Rashed’s poetry. While Mr. Atif Shahab Butt, QEC, IoBM thanked the guests, Mr. Mustafa Arif, IoBM Supply Chain and Logistics Department helped in organizing this event.
This occasion was marked by some awe-inspiring videos from Unicorn Black Production highlighting dream-come-true realities of our Quaid’s motto of ‘Unity, Faith and Discipline’ pertaining to all segments of the event including conservation of nature, education, trades of dignity, the spirit of self-help and sharing empowerment towards a better and brighter Pakistan.
