Karachi has implemented new parking restrictions on some of its busiest roads to reduce traffic congestion. According to reports, the Sindh government has completely banned vehicle parking along II Chundrigar Road from Shaheen Complex to Merewether Clock Tower, as well as on Muhammad Bin Qasim Road near Dr. Ziauddin Road and SM Law College.
The decision came after Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed authorities to take strict measures against illegal parking. Officials confirmed that vehicles parked in prohibited areas will be towed immediately, with legal action taken against owners. As an alternative, the Railway Ground has been designated as an official parking zone.
In addition to the parking ban, authorities are cracking down on unregistered vehicles and those with unauthorized fancy number plates. The DIG Traffic confirmed that Karachi Traffic Police are strictly enforcing these new rules across the city.
This follows recent announcements about expanded traffic restrictions, including a planned ban on rickshaws on seven additional major roads. Traffic officials stated that illegal rickshaws have already been removed from areas near Millennium Mall and Nagan Chowrangi, while encroachments around Empress Market have been cleared. A modern traffic management system is being implemented to improve compliance with traffic laws throughout Karachi.
