Lahore, March 31, 2026: The University of Lahore has marked a major milestone in Pakistan’s higher education sector as the School of Integrated Social Sciences (SISS) graduated the first cohort of its Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) program in Intelligence and Security Studies.

Seven students, including an international graduate from Nigeria, successfully completed the pioneering program, reflecting its growing global appeal and academic significance.
Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Rabia Akhtar, commended the inaugural batch, highlighting the diversity and depth of perspectives brought by the students. “It has been a privilege teaching and learning from this pioneering group. Each student contributed unique insights and professional experiences,” she said.
Now in its third year, the program is taught by leading academics, subject experts, and industry professionals. The curriculum covers key areas such as intelligence studies, intelligence successes and failures, terrorism and counterterrorism, and global governance challenges affecting Pakistan’s security landscape.
Dr. Akhtar also acknowledged the role of visiting scholars and practitioners, noting that their expertise significantly enhanced the quality and relevance of student research.
Among the graduates, Hasan Zuberi stood out by achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA. His dissertation, titled “Pakistan’s AI-enabled Intelligence Framework for Threatcasting, Predictive Analytics, and Inter-Agency Communications,” received distinction for its innovative approach and collaboration with professional institutions.
As Pakistan faces evolving security challenges, the program aims to bridge academia, industry, and state institutions, strengthening national capacity in intelligence and strategic planning. It is expected to play a key role in preparing professionals to address modern security threats, including asymmetric warfare.
