RAWALPINDI: Defence Cooperation between Pakistan and Lebanon came into focus during a high-level meeting between Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir and Lebanese Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief General Rodolphe Haykal at General Headquarters (GHQ).

The meeting is significant because it reflects growing military engagement between the two countries at a time of heightened regional security challenges. Moreover, both sides explored ways to strengthen professional military exchanges and institutional partnerships.

Asim Munir Reviews Defence Cooperation

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Rodolphe Haykal received a guard of honour from a Tri-Services contingent upon his arrival at GHQ in Rawalpindi.

During the meeting, both military leaders discussed matters of mutual interest. They also exchanged views on the evolving regional security environment and future opportunities for Defence Cooperation.

The discussions reportedly focused on expanding military-to-military engagement. In addition, both sides reviewed training collaboration and institutional linkages between their armed forces.

Pakistan Army and Lebanon Military Relations

Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining strong relations with Lebanon. He also underscored the Pakistan Army’s interest in expanding Defence Cooperation with the Lebanese Armed Forces.

According to the ISPR statement, the meeting highlighted the importance of continued professional interactions between the two militaries. Furthermore, officials explored avenues for deeper collaboration in defence-related fields.

General Rodolphe Haykal appreciated the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces. He also acknowledged their contributions to regional stability and international peacekeeping missions.

Rodolphe Haykal Highlights Regional Security

Regional security remained a key topic during the discussions. Both leaders reviewed developments affecting the broader Middle East and examined areas where cooperation could contribute to stability.

The meeting took place against the backdrop of ongoing tensions in Lebanon and wider regional uncertainties. Therefore, defence dialogue between partner nations remains an important diplomatic and military tool.

Officials stated that continued engagement can help strengthen understanding and improve coordination between the armed forces of both countries.

Lebanon Conflict Shapes Security Discussions

Lebanon has remained at the centre of regional security concerns following months of conflict involving Israel and Hezbollah. Although ceasefire efforts have been discussed, tensions have persisted in several areas.

Recent developments have also affected broader geopolitical dynamics involving regional and international stakeholders. Consequently, military leaders across the region continue to monitor the situation closely.

While the GHQ meeting primarily focused on bilateral military ties, the wider security environment formed an important context for the discussions.

Pakistan Lebanon Defence Cooperation Outlook

The visit reflected a shared commitment to stronger military engagement between Pakistan and Lebanon. Both sides indicated interest in expanding cooperation through professional exchanges and training initiatives.

As regional security challenges continue to evolve, Defence Cooperation is expected to remain an important area of engagement. The meeting also demonstrated the willingness of both armed forces to maintain regular dialogue and strengthen institutional partnerships in the future.
