First National Milestone
The KEMA type test, conducted in the Netherlands, is widely regarded as the global benchmark for testing medium- and high-voltage electrical equipment. As a result, the certification confirms that Pakistan Cables’ 35kV MV cables meet internationally recognised standards for safety, reliability and performance.
Moreover, this is the first time a Pakistan-made cable of this voltage class has successfully passed the rigorous KEMA testing process. The achievement also reinforces the company’s status as Pakistan’s largest exporter of wires and cables.
Building on a Long Legacy
Pakistan Cables has maintained a strong reputation for quality for decades. In fact, the company became Pakistan’s first wire and cable manufacturer to receive KEMA certification in 1984. Now, the latest certification for 35kV cables extends that legacy of innovation and technical excellence.
Chief Executive Officer Fahd K. Chinoy described the certification as a significant achievement for both the company and the country.
He said the certification reflects years of technical expertise and dedication. Furthermore, he noted that Pakistan Cables introduced the KEMA standard in Pakistan more than four decades ago and continues to raise the benchmark for local manufacturing.
According to Chinoy, the certification represents more than technical compliance. Instead, it demonstrates the company’s commitment to safety, product performance and world-class engineering standards.
Supporting Critical Infrastructure
The independent KEMA certification verifies that the company’s 35kV medium-voltage cables can withstand demanding electrical, thermal and mechanical conditions. Consequently, they are suitable for major infrastructure, industrial and utility projects that require high levels of reliability.
In addition, the certification strengthens confidence among customers, utilities and project developers by confirming that the products meet internationally accepted performance standards.
The company said all of its current KEMA certifications are available through its official website.
Strengthening Pakistan’s Manufacturing Sector
Founded in 1953, Pakistan Cables is one of the country’s oldest industrial manufacturers and the first wire and cable company listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange. Over the years, it has expanded its product portfolio while maintaining international quality standards through globally recognised certifications.
Today, the company manufactures a wide range of cables, wires and copper products for domestic and international markets. At the same time, it continues to play a leading role in Pakistan’s export sector and supports the development of the country’s energy and infrastructure projects.
Overall, the latest KEMA certification highlights Pakistan Cables’ continued investment in advanced engineering and innovation. The achievement also demonstrates the growing capability of Pakistan’s manufacturing industry to meet the highest international standards.
