WASHINGTON : A pet pigeon in the United States has set the world record for the oldest living pigeon. Guinness World Records gave the pigeon the title at the age of 44 years and 72 days. Guinness World Records said that Chesterfield resident Devine Orender’s pet pigeon Sugar earned the title from German pigeon Methuselah by a 15-year age difference. These pet pigeons have an expected lifespan of up to 20 years. Devine, 77, told Guinness World Records that before Sugar, his parents were also his pets. He said Sugar’s favorite pastime is to sit on the couch with him and watch TV. Social media users are expressing surprise at the pigeon’s age, while also appreciating its love for its owner.
