Netanyahu Backs US Move on Iran Naval Blockade, Cites Full Coordination with Washington

Jerusalem — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday voiced strong support for US President Donald Trump’s reported decision to impose a naval blockade on Iran, saying Israel is in full coordination with Washington on the issue.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said Iran had “violated the rules” of the ongoing diplomatic process linked to talks previously held in Pakistan. He claimed that the breakdown of negotiations followed actions that were unacceptable to the United States.

According to Netanyahu, Trump decided to proceed with a naval blockade after weekend talks between US and Iranian officials failed to produce an agreement. The Israeli leader said Israel “fully supports this firm position” and remains in constant contact with Washington.

The US military has reportedly stated that a blockade would begin on Monday, targeting all maritime traffic to and from Iranian ports. The move is said to affect shipping activity around the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy transit route.

Netanyahu further claimed that US Vice President JD Vance had briefed him following the collapse of the negotiations in Islamabad. He said the United States maintained that Iran had not adhered to expected conditions during the talks.

He also outlined Washington’s central demands, stating that the US position focused on eliminating Iran’s stockpiles of enriched uranium and preventing any future nuclear enrichment capability.

“The central issue is ensuring there is no further enrichment in Iran for years, even decades,” Netanyahu said, adding that this objective is shared by Israel as well.

US officials have not independently confirmed all operational details of the reported blockade at the time of publication.
