KARACHI – Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday was released from Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail after Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan granted him six-week bail on medical grounds.
As per details garnered, large number of stalwarts and leaders of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) were present outside the Kot Lakhpat Jail.
Tariq Fazal drove PML-N supremo to his Jati Umra residence where Opposition Leader in National Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif, was also present.
On the other hand, emotional Maryam Nawaz was all praise for stalwarts of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) for being with her in most ‘trying times’ and for never letting her down.
Maryam stated,
“Heres to all PMLN supporters on social media! A heartfelt ‘THANK YOU’ for being there for me in my most trying times, for never letting me down & for showing me the way. You laughed & cried with me. Want you to know how much I appreciate that & how much each of you means to me.”
Earlier on Tuesday, a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Asif Khosa and comprising Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah took up Nawaz Sharif’s appeal against a verdict by the Islamabad High Court to not grant him bail on medical grounds. Other judges in the bench include Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah.
The former premier were imprisoned at Kot Lakhpat jail since December 2018 following his conviction in a corruption reference in line with the Supreme Court’s July 2017 verdict.
