LAHORE – A National conference on Kinnow would be conducted on 1st December 2020 at Sargodha by All Pakistan Fruit & Vegetable exporters, Importers & Merchants Association (PFVA) and the event would be graced with the Honourable presence of Provincial Minister of Agriculture Hussain Jehanyan Gardezi as the Chief guest. During a recent meeting with the Provincial Minister of Agriculture – Punjab, the Patron-in-Chief of PFVA extended invitation for this forthcoming event and that was gladly accepted by the Agriculture Minister with firm assurance that the Ministry of Agriculture – Punjab would extend full support and cooperation to make this important event a rewal success.
Waheed Ahmed apprised the Agriculture Minister of “Horticulture Vision -2030 “ , a road map prepared with extensive consultations of all stakeholders of all the provinces of Pakistan with a clearly well-defined objective to revolutionize the Agriculture sector of Pakistan by adopting modern techniques in general and production of fruits & vegetables in particular which besides ensuring food security will lead to enhancement of exports of high quality fruits & vegetable as par International Standard by adding more varieties in the existing limited fruit basket .
The Agriculture Minister appreciated the “Horticulture Vision – 2030” developed by Waheed Ahmed for uplift of the Agriculture sector and affirmed his commitment to get guidance from the PFVA on research & development (R&D) for the development of various agri- based projects in the Province. Taking advantage of this meeting, Waheed Ahmed briefed the Agriculture Minister about issues the Kinnow ,Industry is confronted with and the realistic solutions proposed in the Vision -2030 for improvement in the supply chain management .
He further shared that the objective of holding a Conference on Kinnow is to eliminate issues related to kinnow in the Kinnow producing areas of Sargodha & Bhalwal . The conference would identify these issues and recommend realistic solutions so that the significance of Kinnow in the national economy can be further enhanced. The export of Kinnow would commence from 1st Dec. 2020 – Waheed informed. Due to global pandemic of Coronavirus the demand of Citrus fruits has been considerably increased in the World and by meticulous planning, Pakistan can avail this unique opportunity by meeting the local demand and exporting surplus Kinnow to earn valuable foreign exchange, desperately needed to support the national economy.
The provincial Minister deeply acknowledged the strenuous efforts of PFVA in preparation of Vision-2030 and remarked – “ It’s a rare glorifying example to find out the way PFVA in collaboration with Federal & Provincial Govts. Developed the road map for uplift of the Horticulture sector and the Govt. of Punjab would implement recommendations of the Vision-2030 for rapid development of Agriculture & Horticulture sector .
