Karachi, December 7, 2024: Mr. Noman Abid Lakhani, T.I., Chancellor of ILMA University, and Member of the Sindh Higher Education Commission (HEC), was invited to participate in the esteemed Maritime Security Workshop (MARSEW-7) held at the Pakistan Navy War College. The workshop brought together distinguished professionals, academics, and policymakers to discuss Pakistan’s maritime security and development strategies, with a special focus on the Blue Economy and the challenges of “sea blindness.”
During the workshop, Mr. Noman Abid Lakhani actively engaged in discussions addressing critical issues such as maritime security, pollution, illegal fishing, and the potential of the Blue Economy. He emphasized the importance of enhanced coordination between academia, government, and stakeholders to ensure sustainable development in Pakistan’s maritime sector.
Reflecting on his experience, Mr. Lakhani remarked, “This workshop provided valuable insights into Pakistan’s vast maritime potential and the urgent need for stronger policies and investments in maritime infrastructure, tourism, and aquaculture. It is imperative to address the challenges of sea blindness and foster a cohesive national maritime narrative to unlock the true potential of the Blue Economy.”
The event concluded with a ceremony where His Excellency, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Shahbaz Sharif, presented Mr. Lakhani with a completion certificate—a proud moment for the education and ILMA fraternity.
