Former England spinner Monte Panesar has accused Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s film of insulting the Indian Army and Sikhs and has demanded a boycott of the film.
According to Indian media reports, Monte Panesar is not happy with the portrayal of Sikhs and the Indian Army in the film Lal Singh Chadha, and has demanded a boycott of Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s film on social media.
Aamir Khan’s film has been mired in controversies of various kinds, Lal Singh Chadha managed to collect only 11.5 crores on its first day at the box office.
Even before the release, there were calls for a boycott of the film from various quarters, now the day after the release, Lal Singh Chadha has come under another controversy.
The former England spinner wrote in his Twitter message that Forrest Gamp was enlisted in the context of the US Army because they needed less intelligent people in the Vietnam War.
He further said that in this film, Aamir Khan has played the role of a foolish person, like in Forest Gamp, it is a complete disrespect to the Indian Army and Sikhs.
In another tweet, Monty Panesar wrote the names and numbers of various Indian Army awards and also used the hashtag Boycott Lal Singh Chadha.
According to the box office report, Lal Singh Chadha was watched by only 15-20% of the audience, which is a worrying figure for Aamir Khan’s film.
Aamir Khan’s film did business of 11.5 crores at the box office on the first day, while the opposite film Raksha Bandhan collected Rs.8 crores.
