Separately, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that a commercial tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz off the coast of Oman. No immediate details were released regarding casualties or the extent of the damage.
In the Red Sea, the European Union’s naval mission ASPIDES said an Italian frigate safely escorted a merchant vessel through the strategic waterway, highlighting continued efforts to protect international shipping.
