I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Patron-in-Chief (PIC) of PFVA, Mr. Waheed Ahmed for the trust and confidence, he has displayed in me for an important portfolio as Chairman, All Pakistan Fruit & Vegetable Exporters, Importers and Merchants Association (PFVA). It’s certainly a great honour for me while a very heavy responsibility now rests on my shoulders which demands true dedicated and commitment. Am confident that with support of the PIC, former Chairman and members of Executive Committee I shall honour their trust in me and spare no stone unturned to meet expectations of all members of this distinguished trade body, PFVA!
Of the numerous challenges awaiting ahead, my top priority is to ensure that “National Conference on Horticulture” turns into a reality as planned by the PIC. This is a unique historical event and all our resources would be diverted to conduct it by Feb. 2018 and that would greatly assist us to develop a realistic road map for the next ten years for substantial growth of the horticulture sector ultimately leading to exports’ enhancement manifolds …..
A lot more have to be done to fully exploit tremendous potentials of this promising sector (Fruits & Vegetables) through consistent enhancement of export of the sector . With more emphasis on quality, food safety measures, introduction of more verities and enhancement of shelf life, reduction in cost of production and further improvement of packaging as par International standards would play significant role to achieve that objective. R&D would be given higher priority to ensure our survival in the highly competitive International markets. Substantial investment is required for R& D and thus all efforts would be made to convince the Govt. about importance and significance for establishment of R&D labs.in major cities to remain competitive in the International markets. Will ensure that close co-ordination, communication and strong linkages with Government Institutions is maintained so that major issues of the sector can be addressed and resolved promptly as a result close co-operation.
Switching over from the traditional export markets, we would explore new countries in all continents to further enhance export of fruits and vegetables and to achieve that , an aggressive marketing plan would be developed for promotion of various products of this sector.
I would also like to compliment hard work and sincere efforts of former Office bearers and members Executive committee who devoted plenty of time for the betterment of our sector, resolved issues of members and handled numerous challenges with determination.
During my tenure of one year , I assure that with full support and co-operation of the PIC and Executive committee we will deliver the best and resolve many choric issues so as remove barriers , preventing this sector to demonstrate it’s true worth !
