Research Must Deliver Public Benefits

KARACHI — Renowned social and business personality Syed Aamir Sajjad has said the real purpose of medical research is not simply to produce academic papers or publications, but to improve human lives, strengthen patient outcomes and make quality healthcare more accessible.

Speaking as chief guest at the first PHARMACON 2026 at Dr Ziauddin Medical College and University, Sajjad delivered a keynote address titled “From Research to Reality: Transforming Health-Related Knowledge into Public Impact”. He urged researchers and healthcare professionals to focus on work that can produce practical and measurable benefits for society.

He said scientific discoveries achieve their true value when they are translated into better patient care, effective health policies and medical services that people can access. Sajjad also stressed the need for stronger cooperation between universities, healthcare institutions, industry and policymakers to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and its practical application.

The focus on medical research was central to discussions at the conference, where participants examined ways to turn scientific discoveries into safe, effective and affordable treatments. Sajjad argued that innovation should remain closely connected to the real challenges faced by patients and healthcare systems.

Advances in Reproductive Medicine

During his keynote, he also highlighted the research work and medical developments associated with Dr Sajjad’s Australian Concept Infertility IVF & Genetics Center. He referred to advances in in-vitro fertilisation, reproductive medicine and genetics, noting that precision medicine and personalised treatment are increasingly shaping the future of healthcare.

According to Sajjad, these developments demonstrate how research can move beyond laboratories and academic institutions to create meaningful changes in patients’ lives. He said continued innovation could bring further improvements to diagnosis, treatment and healthcare delivery in the years ahead.
