Islamabad: There’s confusion surrounding the electricity relief announced by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif. She promised a fourteen-rupee reduction per unit for consumers using up to five hundred electricity units each month for their September and October bills.
However, it turns out that this relief only applies to single-phase meters. Three-phase meters, often used by businesses, are not included in the relief plan. This has frustrated many consumers who expected to receive help.
Sources from the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) explained that the Power Ministry decided to limit the relief to single-phase consumers. As a result, those with three-phase meters won’t get any discount this month.
The Punjab government introduced this relief after cutting its development budget to support smaller electricity users. As this situation develops, many are calling for clearer communication and more accountability from the government.
