She is currently living in Australia, migrated to this country as a student in August 2019, specifically to learn English for 6 months, but realistically, in 6 months you cannot learn a language.
Byvi Love Story by her own words!
I fell in love with Australia, so when I decided to renew my visa as a student for 2 more years, I knew I had to build a professional path in Australia to be able to achieve my permanent residence and be an entrepreneur (my second dream) The plan I made for that moment was to look at the skilled occupation list of Australia and see if my professional experience in Colombia coincided with the requirements that Australia requests, and by coincidence it did, so I renewed my visa in two Vocational Education and Training courses. (VET) in marketing and communications.
Currently, I continued to be a student, but my visa is due to expire in June 2022 that was the first step in my plan to obtain my permanent residence in Australia since later I had to move to another city, go to university, etc. People who live in Australia know that this path is long and requires a lot of dedication. And of course, I have always had the attitude and desire to do it.
However, there are things that one plans and other things that come into your life, I explain it, as gifts from life or God but in my project as a student, I met my current boyfriend, a man from England, when I met him I was always busy, my days were to work in the mornings and study English in the afternoons and evenings (4pm – 9pm) from Monday to Friday and on weekends to rest and go out with some friends, that was my schedule for the first 6 months in Australia.
Now, the schedule is not very different, the only thing that changes is that I study in the afternoons marketing and communications; I have to keep practicing my English and joined a running club to run 5k every Saturday.
These 2 and a half years in Australia have been a non-stop journey, but now with my boyfriend, who makes the journey much more beautiful because I found a person to trust, who I can lean on, and who reminds me that I can achieve my dreams I tell you about my boyfriend because meeting my boyfriend meant that my plans changed. He is an Australian citizen by a grant (his story is beautiful and admirable), which means that I can choose a different path to obtain my permanent residence in less time, neither but nor easy. This country is very strict.
This also brought my entrepreneurial plans back to the forefront, because the time I spend studying can be spent on other activities. With this idea I do not mean to say that it is not important to study, it is important to study, only that I understand that studying is important when you learn about activities that nurture your projects, not when an institution chooses all the subjects that you have to study.
I say this because, after all, we only use 1% of everything we learned at university or school. So why not spend your time perfecting that 1%. I think that’s what makes unstoppable people.
You will ask yourself, and what does Byviana want to undertake! To be honest, I have been in the process of exploring, I have some projects that are working right now and they give me money, (such as managing the home of prestigious families without time to be at home and with children) but it is not what I am passionate about, They are not projects that I want to work on for the rest of my life, because when I chose them I chose them for money and not for passion (and it is obvious why studying in Australia is not cheap). This decision is neither right nor wrong, but it is a lifestyle that does not describe who Byviana is. (always acknowledging that this is a wonderful opportunity but that it must close at some point to continue progressing). My way of thinking is the following: if these projects that are not my passion work well; I know that I can achieve bigger projects if I do what I love. And what I tell you may sound like phrases, but when someone is obsessed with their passion, life flows, and everything else like money is a result. You have to be disciplined and work.
I have also learned this because my boyfriend set up his own company, so he is a fundamental person in my life and gives me very good advice. Another thing that I have learned on this journey is that you have to lose the fear of trying, of doing things yourself; you have to learn to lead yourself. This is what I am passionate about, that is why I keep training myself on self-management, high-performance habits, and migration to Australia. Likewise, I put into practice what I am learning, for example, I have applied for my visas myself, and I help people who have doubts about these issues in Facebook groups. This is a project that I am developing little by little because right now I cannot dedicate much time to it, but I will do it at the end of May. (2022)
To clarify, so far everything sounds very nice in my story and some people will say that I have an easy life, but we all have ups and downs, only now I’ll tell you what inspires me because there are days when I sleep a couple of hours, I feel doubts, I feel sadness, I miss my family, at first I had no money or what I earned was not even enough to pay my rent.
It is normal to have difficult moments in our lives; I don’t see it convenient for us to focus on problems, since they steal our energy. And energy we need every day. For example, I am the one who pays for my fees, visas, bills; I financially support my family due to Covid, etc. I am an independent woman, and although I have a spectacular partner, whom I love deeply, our relationship is based on support, respect, and progress.
