KARACHI PORT TRUST: Leading the Maritime Front & Economic Gateway 24/7 ,On the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, Chairman Karachi Port Trust, Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed SI(M), S.Bt (Retd.), along with DG (Ops) Rear Admiral Ateeq ur Rehman Abid SI(M), visited various terminals and operational areas to observe ongoing port activities. This historic step was taken in light of the guidance and leadership afforded by the Honourable Minister for Maritime Affairs, Mr. Junaid Anwar Chaudhry.
During the visit, the KPT team reviewed live port operations at Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT) and South Asia Pakistan Terminals Limited (SAPTL), and commended the dedication of terminal operators, their staff, Customs officials, and KDLB workers who are ensuring uninterrupted cargo operations during the festive occasion. This reaffirms Karachi Port’s round-the-clock operational commitment and excellence. The terminal operators highlighted that a large number of export and import containers will be handled on the first day of Eid and the following holidays without any delay.
It may be noted that this is the first occasion in KPT’s history, spanning over 138 years, that cargo handling is being undertaken on the first day of Eid. Chairman KPT also extended warm Eid greetings to the security and Customs officials on duty, acknowledging their commitment and vigilance.
On this occasion, Chairman KPT reaffirmed that Karachi Port, being the premier national port, will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the best possible services to the nation and the business community in these testing times, wherein supply chains have been severely affected due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
He also mentioned that options are being explored to start additional feeder services from Pakistan to the Middle East.
