Lalak Jan Shaheed was honoured on his martyrdom anniversary as Pakistan’s military leadership and the Armed Forces paid tribute to the Nishan-e-Haider recipient for his exceptional bravery and sacrifice during the 1999 Kargil conflict.
In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, and the Armed Forces of Pakistan commemorated the anniversary of Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed’s martyrdom.

According to the ISPR, Lalak Jan displayed extraordinary courage while defending his military post against repeated enemy attacks during the Kargil conflict. Despite sustaining critical injuries, he refused to leave his position and continued leading his comrades until he embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.
The military described his sacrifice as an enduring symbol of courage, resilience and selfless service, stating that his legacy continues to inspire serving personnel and future generations to uphold the values of duty, honour and patriotism.
The Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to preserving the legacy of Pakistan’s martyrs and pledged to continue defending the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity with the same spirit of courage, dedication and sacrifice demonstrated by Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed.
