The team said the matter was investigated internally and described the incident as a misunderstanding rather than a deliberate violation. The decision was formally communicated to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following the inquiry.
According to officials, Afridi had allowed guests of teammate Sikandar Raza into the players’ room at the team hotel despite security staff denying permission. The franchise emphasized that the penalty reflects its commitment to discipline and adherence to security protocols.
The development comes during the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season, where Lahore Qalandars currently sit second on the points table with two points from two matches.
The side opened their campaign with a win against Hyderabad Kingsmen on March 26 but suffered a four-wicket defeat to Karachi Kings in their following match. During that game, the team was also penalised five runs for altering the condition of the ball.
Separately, Qalandars batter Fakhar Zaman has been charged with a Level 3 offence under the players’ code of conduct for allegedly breaching rules related to ball tampering.
